CHRISTIANITY IN PRACTICAL TERMS

Christianity in Practical Terms

Jason & Sheila

Jason Penwright & his partner Sheila Dawson had been living together as partners for two years until they received a flyer through the door from Aberystwyth Gospel Mission saying that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)

They had been attending their local Charismatic meeting at the Community Hall called the Cardigan Bay Christian Fellowship.

Over to you Jason .. "They were quite happy with us living together and taking communion in their "Church" because we believed that God was a loving God who forgave us our wrongs (sin was never mentioned) whatever we did - including sleeping together before marriage! We even did the Alpha Course about the meaning of life but the sin of Adam affecting humanity was never mentioned. We were also "filled with the Spirit" at the weekend away or so we thought! The Spirit who we were filled with made us so happy for a time.

We had no conviction of sin - only happiness - for a time!

The Pastor laid his hands on us saying "More" "More" and we rolled about and danced with glee even like a chicken at one time but this Bible Verse from the Gospel Mission disturbed us. It took away our peace. We were angry against the Gospel Mission. We wrote to the Mission Hall Pastor telling him not to contact us again because he had taken away our peace. We found out later he had the whole Mission praying for us in tears not joy over a lost sinner to repent. Those lost sinners were Sheila & I.

We had never been told that it was sin to sleep together before marriage, the Cardigan Bay Fellowship telling us to leave it till it was God's timing to get married. Our peace just seemed to go and go. It seemed that a different Spirit was contacting us calling us with a word we never heard in our Cardigan Bay Fellowship. That word was "repent" else be "damned" and face an eternity in "hell" - all words not in our New King James Version. We found out later at the Mission that the Old King James had these words in for a purpose as the Holy Ghost would use them to bring conviction, repentance and assurance of our eternal salvation. The Alpha Course had even told us that "Ghost" was a scarey word but we found out later that the Holy Ghost simply was calling us to our loving Saviour Jesus who had already paid the price demanded by our sin hating God.

The Mission told us that Jesus was the Saviour, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Ghost and the Soon Coming King and the tongue we were now speaking was very very different to the ones we had spoken in the Cardigan Bay Christian Fellowship, Their tongues led to Jezebel telling us what to do with our lives. The words at the mission brought about the conditions for us to hear from God directly without a Jezebel priestess - oops - sorry - elder!

These words led us to complete repentance and a passion for the Great Commission.

Oh! and our marital state? This Holy Ghost led us to go back to our parents for a time, to go hill walking together and get to know each other in the way God intended. Our sins were washed away by the blood of Jesus and we felt clean. We had become virgins again - for it is only from this state that single people can truly be married in Church.

Eph. 5: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
