Background

Time for God Ministries was founded in 2004 by Samuel Eninu, a young pastor who having spent several years working in a local church situation was coming to his four years theological training at a Christian University in Nairobi, Kenya.

Samuel now pioneers this new work in the eastern province of Uganda based on the town of Soroti. This area has been devastated in recent years by a civil war in which rebels from the north of the country have sought to overthrow the government. Although the government forces have taken control of the area, many people are afraid to return to their villages and are still living in camps for ‘Internally Displaced Persons’.

Uganda is seeing tremendous growth of the Christian church. Samuel is now director of ‘Time for God Ministries’ which is pioneering churches in villages in Soroti, Amuria, and Katakwi districts where there isn’t at present a Pentecostal-style church.

Time for God Bible School

Time for God Ministries has a number of pastors who are looking after the various churches in their spare time. None of them receives any form of salary, and none has received any formal training. Several of them desire to go to Bible school, but the cost is prohibitive. Samuel Eninu’s time in Bible school was sponsored by someone in the UK, but trying to find sponsors for all these students would be all but impossible. Time for God Ministries is seriously considering the establishment of a Time for God Bible School based in Soroti and would run occasional courses, not only for pastors of Time for God Ministries, but also for any other pastors who felt a similar need. Samuel is in contact with a number of other similar churches in the area. These churches need an in-depth bible teaching at an academic level which pastors would receive in a conventional Bible School. The teaching would be in the context of their every day work and their on-going pastoral care of their churches. This training will commence in January 2007.

Time for God Ministries believes that this would be a tremendous improvement on conventional Bible School training, which takes young people away from their local church context for two or three years and concentrates solely on academic training.

Statement of Faith

Time for God Ministries holds the following tenets of faith.

  1. The Bible is inspired by God and the only infallible and authoritative word of God and the only rule for Christian faith and conduct.
  2. That there’s one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  3. In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.
  4. That the only means of salvation is through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and that this results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
  5. That the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing in the human body in answer to believing prayer.
  6. That the baptism of the Holy Spirit with outward evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2 is given to believers who meet God’s conditions for receiving.
  7. In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by who’s indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
  8. In the resurrection of the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.

Core Values

  1. We value God, His word, His creation, His redemptive purpose in Christ for the world, and His presence through the Holy Spirit.
  2. We value Christ, head of the church, shepherd of the redeemed flock, Lamb of God, the only savior, the beginning and the end, His character, holy life and unchanging promises.
  3. We value the Holy Spirit: His unity, His baptism with both evidence of speaking in tongues, and fruit of the Holy Spirit, His presence in a believer’s life –guarantee of eternal life.
  4. We value people without Christ: to whom we owe the compassion of Christ, and an opportunity to receive the gospel and enter into Christian fellowship.
  5. We value God-given and empowered clear leadership: with integrity, discipline, ability and vision.
  6. We Value Holistic missionary effort: reaching the lost with anointed preaching of the gospel; spirit led prayer, establishing local churches; practical expressions of Christian faith and hard work.
  7. We value individual believers: with personal commitment to Christ, discipleship, Christian family life, loving relationship, and fulfillment of the will of God.
  8. We Value the local churches: which are marked by sound doctrine, fivefold ministry, Pentecostal worship, every member ministry, Holy Spirit empowered evangelism, Anointed proclamation and practical expressions of Christian faith.
  9. We value a cooperate fellowship that enhances the church’s ability to fulfill its mandate, through partnerships, servant leadership, shared vision, flexible structures, and strategic mobilization and management of resources.
